Gods of Grip

Gods of Grip (styled "Gods Of Grip" on its own site) is a British grip equipment maker. It says its tools are made in the UK, and its cast blobs are made in Liverpool. Company records show it was incorporated in June 2018. Its range is strongest in pinch equipment, but it also makes hub tools, blobs, rolling handles and axles, and publishes training articles.

Key facts

  • Country: United Kingdom; incorporated 2018
  • Known for: loadable pinch blocks in several widths
  • Also makes: hub tools, cast and loadable blobs, rolling handles from 50 to 89 mm, axle bars
  • Pinch surfaces: a textured finish the maker calls GripLock
  • Website: godsofgrip.com

Pinch blocks

Gods of Grip's pinch blocks are loadable: the block sits above a loading point for plates. The width of a pinch block, the distance the thumb and fingers must span, changes the lift a great deal, so the range is sold by width:

Block Width Notes
Narrow Plate Pinch Block 6 mm Laser-cut steel; plate-pinch width
Triple Barrel Pinch Block 50 mm Curved barrels instead of flat faces
Pinch Block 60 or 80 mm The standard block
Mammoth Pinch Block 100 mm Wide block
The CUBE 120 mm First made in 2021
Beast 2 Handed Pinch Block 60 or 80 mm Two-handed version

Two-handed versions are also made of the 60, 80 and 100 mm blocks, the Triple Barrel and the 6 mm block. The company also makes Key Pinch Blobs, 3D-printed blob shapes in Legacy (50 mm) and FatMan (45 mm) sizes.

Hub tools

Hub tools are lifted by pinching a raised disc, like the hub of a weight plate. Gods of Grip makes a Square Hub, a Giant Square Hub, a Hub Pinch Grip Tool, a Ring Hub (with 12 mm rings, being discontinued), and the Dome, a smaller relative of its Moontop. See Hub Lifting Technique.

Blobs

  • GOG Legacy Style Blobs: cast iron blobs in the York style, cast in Liverpool, listed from 10 to 35 kg (announced as coming soon at the time of writing).
  • Cannonball Blobs: spheres from 2 to 14 kg, plus the 32 kg Impossiball, nearly 20 cm across.
  • Loadable Blob Trainer: a loadable blob shape for steady progression.

For blob history, see Pinch Implements: Blobs, Blocks and Pinch Blocks.

  • Godlike Rolling Handle: 50, 60 or 76 mm, bright zinc-plated steel.
  • Omega Rolling Handle: 89 mm.
